Teacher Training Program

Sohum Institute’s teacher training program is for the beginners who want to learn the art, philosophy and significance of yoga. It is specially designed for aspiring yoga teachers who have an interest and inclination towards learning and teaching yoga. The curriculum is a complete professional training that helps the practitioner become a highly skilled yoga teacher. The journey through this course helps the practitioner not only develop the skills and knowledge but also helps in constructing a rock-solidyoga foundation for the betterment of the society and himself.

The practitioner will learn the traditional teachings of Hatha yoga, Pranayam and Meditation where apart from the practice a lot of importance will be given to theory and learning about the human anatomy and how yoga asanas help in vitalizing and energizing each and every human organ.

The course is ISO 9001:2015 certified and makes the trainer eligible to be a private yoga trainer in both India and International markets.

The duration of the course is 200 hrs conducted all days in a week. Theory classes are conducted on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 pm and practical classes on weekdays (6:30 -7:30 pm).

Course Syllabus:

The course curriculum includes the following things:

  • Traditional Hatha Yoga:

    • We will teach the students skills on how to practice yoga asanas with yoga props in a safe environment.
    • Skills on how to sequence a yoga asana class
    • Skills on how to do hands on adjustments
    • Learn basic yoga postures with intermediate and advanced asanas
    • Sun and Moon Salutation
    • Practice of Bhandas, Mudras and Shatkriyas

  • Ashtanga Yoga

    • Skills on how to develop a methodical self-practice
    • Basic elements

  • Meditation and Yoga Nidra

    • Developing a continuous systematic practice of Meditation
    • Learning the art of Yogic Relaxation (Yoga Nidra

  • Pranayam

    • Developing a daily practice of Pranayam
    • Various breathing techniques mastery

  • Kirtan and Sanskrit Chanting

  • Functional Anatomy of Yoga

    • Complete understanding of our human system (Muscular, Skeletal and Locomotive)
    • Human system functioning eg Digestive, respirator etc
    • Better understanding of safe and stable physical alignments in yoga poses.

  • Yoga Sutras and Vedanta Philosophy

    • Understanding the 8 elements of yoga path: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayam, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi
    • Learning the Six techniques in Shatkarmas:
    1. Neti (Nasal Cleaning),
    2. Jala Neti (Nasal Cleaning with water),
    3. Sutra Neti (Nasal cleaning with thread),
    4. Dhauti (cleansing of digestive track),
    5. VatsaraDhauti (cleansing the intestines with air),
    6. Agnisar Kriya or VahnisaraDhauti(activating the digestive fire or cleansing with the essence of fire),
    7. KunjalKiya (the practice of vomiting water),
    8. Gaja Karma Kriya (elephant action),
    9. VastraDhauti (cloth cleansing),
    10. Nauli (abdominal massage and cleansing),
    11. Basti (intestinal cleansing with yogic enema),
    12. Kapalbhati (frontal brain cleansing),
    13. VatkramaKapaibhati (air cleaning),
    14. VyutkramaKapaibhati (sinus cleansing),
    15. SheetkramaKapalbhati (mucus cleansing),
    16. Trataka (eye cleansing with concentrated gazing).

  • Yogic diet and Nutrition

    • Understanding what is Sattvic, Rajasic and Tamasic diets
